It is a non-profit, private sector industry body funded by its members. Members include telecommunications carriers; content creators and publishers; web developers; e-commerce traders and solutions providers; hardware vendors; systems integrators; banks, insurance underwriters; Internet law firms, ISPs; educational and training institutions; Internet research analysts; and a range of other businesses providing professional and technical support services. On behalf of its members, the IIA provides policy input to government and advocacy on a range of business and regulatory issues, to promote laws and initiatives which enhance access, equity, reliability and growth of the medium within Australia. Telecommunications Industry Ombuddsman The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman is a free and independent alternative dispute resolution scheme for small business and residential consumers in Australia who have a complaint about their telephone or Internet service. Established in 1993 under a Federal Act of Parliament, the TIO is independent of industry, the government and consumer organisations. Telephone Information Services Standards Council (TISSC) Is an independent regulatory body that sets fair standards for the message content and advertising of any Australian telecommunication service with the prefix 190, in the form of a Code of Practice. Service providers of 190 numbers must abide by this Code of Practice, which is developed by TISSC. Comms Alliance Communications Alliance was formed to provide a unified voice for the Australian communications industry and to lead it into the next generation of converging networks, technologies and services. Communications Alliance offers a forum for the industry to make coherent and constructive contributions to policy development and debate. By providing leadership on new trends and directions, Communications Alliance fulfils a vital unifying role on behalf of the industry and its members, particularly in areas of competition, innovation and industry development.

Fair Trading Queensland The Office of Fair Trading promotes the existence of a fair and ethical marketplace within the community. In creating an equitable, informed, and safe marketplace, Fair Trading works to increase business and consumer confidence, which should result in improved economic performance and a strong contribution to the 'Smart State'.To achieve this, the Office conducts a range of activities and services to create the right marketplace environment, and deliver appropriate compliance and quality communication strategies.
ACCC The ACCC promotes competition and fair trade in the market place to benefit consumers, businesses and the community. It also regulates national infrastructure services. Its primary responsibility is to ensure that individuals and businesses comply with the Commonwealth competition, fair trading and consumer protection laws.
